Frequently asked questions
The keyboard doesn't show up in my apps, what should I do?
Go to Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard, and pick A Good Keyboard.
Does the app read what I type?
No. Nothing you type is sent to a server. The detail — what is encrypted and what is synced — is on the Encryption and privacy page.
Will I lose my rules when the app updates?
No. Your rules, shortcuts, history and statistics are kept across updates, and even if your subscription ends.
Do my messages go out in the font I pick?
No, and no keyboard can do it: iOS does not let a keyboard change the font of the text it writes. What you type appears in the font of the app you are typing in.
Apps that promise to “send fonts” send none: they replace every letter with a drawing that looks like it. To the eye it is nearly the same, but it has stopped being text: search no longer finds the word, the screen reader cannot say it, the spell-checker walks right past it, and no replacement rule applies to it. Accented letters have no drawing at all.
In A Good Keyboard, fonts change the look of the keys. Your text stays your text — a good keyboard never alters what you send, on the way out.
